Big Idea Grant: Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions about the Big Idea Grant? We’re here to help!

At YippityDoo, we believe women with big ideas deserve opportunities to bring them to life. Our mission is not just to help fund your dreams, but to help you build a business capable of funding those dreams.

Here are answers to some of our most frequently asked questions.

1. What is the Big Idea Grant?

The Big Idea Grant is a privately funded grant program created by YippityDoo to support women entrepreneurs in the United States.

We award one $1,000 grant every month to a woman-owned, for-profit business and one $1,000 grant every other month to an eligible nonprofit organization.

Our goal is to support women with vision, passion, and the determination to turn their ideas into successful businesses.

2. Who is eligible to apply?

For our for-profit grant, applicants must:

  • Be at least 18 years old.

  • Reside in and operate their business within the United States.

  • Have a business that is at least 50% woman-owned and woman-run.

We welcome businesses of all sizes and stages, including those just getting started.

Our nonprofit grant is available to eligible women-led organizations registered as 501(c)(3) nonprofits.

3. Can I apply if my business hasn’t launched or earned revenue?

Absolutely!

You don’t need to have an established business or existing revenue to apply for our for-profit grant.

We welcome women who are still in the idea stage, as well as women looking to grow or expand an existing business.

What matters most is your vision, your passion, and how you plan to use the funding.

4. Can nonprofit organizations apply?

Yes! We offer a separate $1,000 grant every other month for eligible nonprofit organizations.

Your nonprofit must already be registered as a 501(c)(3) organization to qualify.

5. Why is there a $15 application fee?

The Big Idea Grant is privately funded by YippityDoo LLC. We are not a nonprofit organization and do not receive corporate sponsorship to fund our grants.

The $15 application fee helps cover the costs of operating the program, processing and reviewing applications, and continuing to offer grants to women entrepreneurs.

We work hard to keep the application fee affordable while making the program sustainable.

6. Do you offer application fee waivers for financial hardship?

We understand that financial challenges are a reality for many entrepreneurs, especially when starting or growing a business.

However, we do not offer application fee waivers solely on the basis of financial hardship.

If the $15 application fee is not within your budget right now, we encourage you to apply during a future grant cycle when you’re in a better financial position.

Our grants are offered regularly, so you can apply when the timing is right for you.

If you need a disability-related accommodation to access the application process, please contact our team. We review accessibility requests individually.

7. Is the application fee refundable?

No. The $15 application fee is nonrefundable, including if your application is not selected.

The fee covers participation in the application and review process, not a guarantee of receiving grant funding.

8. How are grant recipients selected?

We carefully evaluate applications based on three primary criteria:

Vision (40%)

What is your Big Idea? Tell us what you want to create, build, or accomplish.

Passion (40%)

Why does this business or idea matter to you? We want to hear your story and understand what drives you.

Use of Funds (20%)

How would you use the $1,000 to move your business forward? Be specific about what the funding would help you accomplish.

We encourage you to speak from the heart. You don’t need a professional grant writer or an elaborate business plan to share a compelling vision.

9. When is the application deadline?

For our monthly for-profit grant, applications must be submitted by 11:59 PM Pacific Time on the last day of each month.

Please make sure you complete the entire application and checkout process before the deadline.

10. When are winners announced?

Grant recipients are typically notified by email on or around the 15th of the following month.

For example, applications submitted in November are reviewed for selection in December.

11. Can I reapply if I’m not selected?

Yes! We absolutely encourage you to try again.

Each grant cycle is a new opportunity, and you are welcome to submit a new application in a future month.

A new application and application fee are required for each cycle. Only one application per business per month is permitted.

12. What can I use the $1,000 grant for?

The grant is designed to help you start, operate, or grow your business.

Eligible business expenses may include equipment, inventory, marketing, website development, business education, product development, and operational costs.

We encourage you to think about how the $1,000 could make a meaningful difference in moving your business forward.

13. How do I know my application was successfully submitted?

After completing your application and payment, you should receive a checkout confirmation.

Please save your receipt or confirmation email for your records.

If you don’t receive confirmation, check your spam or promotions folder. You can also contact our team to help verify your submission.

14. What should I do if I experience a technical problem during checkout?

If your application won’t submit, the total shows $0.00 unexpectedly, or payment fields don’t appear, please don’t assume your application has been received.

Try opening the application in a private browsing window or using a different browser.

If the issue continues, please contact us with your name, email address, the date you attempted to apply, and a description or screenshot of the problem.

We’ll do our best to help resolve the issue.

15. Are there any free resources for women entrepreneurs?

Yes! We believe that building a successful business requires more than funding.

We offer free wealth mindset coaching and business encouragement to help women develop the confidence, clarity, and habits that support long-term success.

You can also explore these free or low-cost resources:

  • SCORE — Free business mentoring from experienced entrepreneurs and business professionals.

  • Small Business Administration — Business planning, educational resources, and local assistance.

  • Women’s Business Centers — Free or low-cost training and guidance for women starting or growing businesses.

You don’t have to wait for a grant to start taking steps toward your business goals!

16. What happens if I’m selected?

Congratulations! We’ll contact you by email with instructions for accepting your grant.

You’ll be required to complete a grant agreement before receiving your funds. Recipients generally must respond within seven business days.

Once the necessary information and signed agreement have been received, grant funds are distributed through direct deposit.
